S0 = one learner end-to-end; S1 = same-grade class + one shared classroom set; S2 = ≤14-day warning + mock interview + automatic weak-card review.

Comparison
| People | Classroom materials | Exam date | |
|---|---|---|---|
| S0 | 1–2 learners to prove the loop | Each practices independently | Optional |
| S1 | Same-grade group | Lock one shadow pack + theme card (shared classroom device) | Exam date + focus parts |

S0: start (one learner · click path)
Goal: assign → practice → see it.
Tip: use one trial learner first. Skip “classroom same materials” (that’s S1).
Before you start
- Sign in with the teacher main account (not a learner PIN).
- Practice spends points (practice time)—fund the teacher pool, then allocate. How to get minutes.
Step 1 · Open Teaching
- Bottom tab Me.
- Tap Teaching (copy may say “Open” vs “Opened”).
- Or Me → Switch space → Teaching.
- Check that you are in the Teaching space (learner management).
Step 2 · Add one learner
- Teaching screen → top-right Add learner.
- Fill Nickname, Login ID, Login PIN (≥4).
- Tap Create account.
- Give the learner the ID + PIN—not the teacher login.
Learner sign-in: choose Learner or child, then ID + PIN.
Step 3 · Allocate practice time
- Teaching → Allocate practice time.
- Allocate to = that learner.
- Adjust minutes with a positive number (e.g.
30) → Confirm allocation. - Success toast like “Allocated +… minutes to …”.
Step 4 · Make an Eiken Exam prep plan with AI (writes exam + grade)
There is no separate “exam profile” editor. Exam, grade, and date are written when you make a plan.
- Teaching → Plans → AI plan (or from Today’s step on Home).
- Who is this plan for: only this learner.
- Plan type: Exam prep.
- Exam: Eiken. If the learner has no target exam yet, choose Another exam… → Eiken; you can tick Also make it their target exam.
- Eiken target grade: chips use Japanese labels (
5級…1級). For a trial,3級or準2級is fine. - Exam date: leave empty for S0 (within 14 days shows a sprint warning = S2).
- Part focus (optional): e.g. Picture narration.
- Exam prep plans practise from My materials. If the learner has no materials for this Eiken grade, you see a notice: get or buy them for the learner in the store and tap Back to the plan, or choose Use what I have.
- Agree → save. The plan goes to Not started.
- Open it → Start → Active.
Exam prep plans have no speaking steps. Each day the learner practises this grade’s vocabulary, listening, and speaking items under Learn → Today, and Today’s step on Home points there. For spoken picture or interview practice, use the speaking task in Step 6.
→ Assign tasks and plans · Make an AI plan · Plan types · Start a plan and the active limit
Step 5 · (Recommended) Eiken speaking chrome
- Space settings, then Practice page settings. See Practice page and space settings.
(or Space settings → Practice page settings). - Enable simplified chrome.
- Complexity one-tap: prefer Task-focused (or Minimal).
- Exam one-tap: Eiken. If a profile exists, Follow exam profile (Eiken).
Step 6 · (Optional) One picture speaking task
- Teaching → pick the learner → Assign speaking task (or Space → Speaking tasks).
- Task type: Exam practice; exam Eiken and the target grade.
- What to practise: Picture narration, then set Items. Items come from the learner’s speaking-item materials; you can assign before they have them, or tap Assign a mock interview.
- You can also pick Mock interview directly under What to practise (grade-keyed practice questions; no item materials needed).
- Title + suggested length → tick Activate on publish → Publish task.
- Learner: a new entry appears under Learn → Practice tasks; tap Practice.
Step 7 · Check that you can see it
| Where | What you see |
|---|---|
| Teacher Home “Learner progress” | Practiced today / minutes |
| Teaching → Activity | Completed practice activity |
| Teaching → Speaking tasks | Not started / In progress / Completed |
| Teaching → Plans / Plan follow-up | Active plan |
| Teaching → Records, or the Progress tab | Playback / review |
S0 done checklist
- Teaching open; learner can sign in with ID/PIN
- Minutes allocated
- An Active Eiken Exam prep plan (or one published speaking task)
- At least one completed practice visible to the teacher
Skip for now: classroom material lock, multi-learner same-goal batch, exam date within 14 days (S1/S2).
S1: class (same grade + same materials)
Extra vs S0: same-grade plans in one go, exam date and focus parts, and Same classroom material.
- Same-grade plans in one go: Teaching → Plans → AI plan → under Who is this plan for, tick several learners of the same grade. Each one gets their own Not started plan (never one shared plan); Start each one.
- Exam date and focus: set the Exam date (used to size the plan period) and Part focus (e.g. picture narration, opinion). With several people selected, only the target exams they share are listed; if there are none, pick under Another exam…. Nobody’s target exams change.
- Same classroom material: Teaching → Space settings → the Same classroom material section at the bottom of Privacy & interaction → tick Lock same material → Exam board: Eiken → set Shadow pack index (from 0) and pick Picture / response / theme card → Save material lock.
- The lock is saved on this device only, so it suits a shared classroom tablet or computer: learners who sign in on that device practise the same shadow pack and theme card. Learners signing in on their own phones are not affected by the lock.
- Project the same card; learners speak; check completion under Speaking tasks / Activity.
- After class, scan Plan follow-up for missed practice and decide next week’s tasks.
Where materials come from
- Built-in curated cards and shadow lines—not school PDF uploads.
- Picture cards are text scaffolds today (no product photos). Project your own image matched to the App card id if needed.
- The lock pins the shadow pack index + theme card, not an upload.
S2: sprint
Extra vs S1: a two-week warning, mock-interview tasks, and automatic weak-card review.
- Exam date within 14 days: when the plan is made, the App warns that the exam is under two weeks away. Exam prep plans have no speaking steps (each day the learner practises this grade’s vocabulary, listening, and speaking items), so extra speaking practice before the exam comes from speaking tasks.
- Mock interview: in the speaking task, choose Mock interview under What to practise (grade-keyed practice questions, not an official examiner bank). In the last two weeks, one every 2–3 days works well.
- Catch missed practice: Teaching → Plan follow-up shows each learner’s active-plan progress; Speaking tasks shows who hasn’t practised yet.
- Weak-card review (automatic): when a learner scores under 70 on a picture or other theme card, that card comes back first in the same scenario after about 1.5 days; a score of 75 or more clears it. It is stored on the device the learner practises on and needs no teacher confirmation. While the classroom lock is on, the locked card wins.
- Don’t change the grade mid-plan: the Eiken grade is written into the plan. To change it, make a new plan.
- Materials still come from the built-in library; don’t promise a huge official mock bank.
Adjust remaining steps by weak spots in Plan follow-up only works on plans with speaking steps. For an exam prep plan it reports no suggestion—this is expected.
Boundaries
- Not an official exam / no pass guarantee / not a grade book. What Teaching does not include.
